Parent Involvement
Parents can play many roles in sports: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents for socializing sports.
In addition to the role you play as a parent, we encourage you to get involved and volunteer to assist in making the Stonington Bears Youth Lacrosse League a gold standard youth program and one that attracts new players and families as we build the sport here in Stonington and North Stonington CT.
Areas of support
We welcome involvement from all parents, regardless of your Lacrosse experience!
- Coaching - all resources will be provided, from coaches training to on field support. If you're interested in coaching, please let us know!
- Events - we are always looking for help getting the word out about our program. We'll be planning small events throughout the year, if you'd like to help or have ideas about ways to get the word out, we'd love to hear from you!
- Fundraising - this is critical to help support our program and keep our costs down. If you'd like to help us raise funds, we'd love to add you to our committee!
- Board Members - our Board members are ever changing as their children age out of the program, if you're interested in learning more about our Board, please let us know.
- Donate - Stonington Bears Youth Lacrosse is a non-profit organization focused on the introduction and development of youth lacrosse. As a volunteer-led organization, we rely heavily on the support of SBYL families and the community. Your support will help ensure our program continues to grow and contributes to developing strong, empowered female athletes in Stonington and North Stonington.
